New year, new season for our Holiday Cottages. We have a complex of 3 holiday cottages, all barn conversions situated at the front of our farm over looking some of our goats on the meadow and a 10 minute walk away from our private section of the river bure and meadows. All conversions were completed in 2006 and we pride ourselves on offering rural Norfolk accommodation at its best whilst only being a 20 minute stroll from the historic market place of Aylsham with it various shops from basic groceries to finest chocolates, artisan bakery,
several cafes and the Black Boys Pub.
Here
on the farm being as Eco-friendly as we possible can is incredibly
important to us. We have our own 11kw gaia wind turbine which gives the
farm a zero carbon footprint and all our heating comes from a Glen
Farrow Biomass boiler on which we burn left over straw from the farm and
wood found in our woodland and area surrounding the farm.
Interested in what we do here at the farm, why not come and stay with us and see what we do yourselves. Come and sample products from our Love Grub farm shop where we sell our own rare breed pork and goat meat and much more homemade produce, free range eggs and seasonal veg. Maybe have a go at being hands on and help feed some young kids (time of year depending) and get up close and personal with them.
Here's a few photos of our cottages:

Say Hello to Ruby Red Diego,
He was our first male breed by Robin & Beckie here at the farm & he's just over a year old. ( DOB 28.10.12) His Father is Dencross Aaron - sire: Topknot Chunky
dam: Ironmill Mischief
and his mother is Holebrook Fame- sire: Macriloda Drifter
dam: Macriloda Sissy
Do have full pedigree (back to great grandparents) for both his mum and dad if you are interested in seeing these.
He is fully vaccinated and CAE tested (last tested in nov 13) Registered with British Boer Goat Society.
He's filling out well and is growing into a fantastic shape. He's so gentle and docile, loves a having a cuddle & fuss. Rather polite with his ladies as well other than at feeding time, though hes all vocal and not physically nasty to them. Such a shame for us to see him go, especailly being the first we bred ourseleves but being related to alot of our females we cant really keep him. He should be a proven sire in late spring though (we were lucky enough to get some new girls with different bloodlines and wanted them to kid this year but thought Aaron would be a little too big for them as they are first time kidders)
He needs a good loving home. In no hurry to get rid of him,
plenty of space for him for a while longer, this ad is more putting feelers out there to see if we have any interest but if the perfect home comes up we'd be happy to let him go. Please enquire if your interested. Not sure of an exact price yet but will be no less than £350. (this may change and will increase with his age)

Time just seems to fly by these days, Jackies Anglo Nubian goats, which are the first to kid of the year are due in less than 1 week!!!! Friday 17th is our first due date but not too sure whether she'll hold on to them for that long.
All of them are now getting rather rounded and their udders are full to bursting with milk by the looks of them :)
Mopsa, should be the first to kid. Cant see too well from the pic but her hind legs are stradling around her back and she's waddling well :) due on the 17th if she can hold them that long!
Fudge (cream) and Perdy. Again rather barrel like and very incomfortable!
Mopsa with Gypsy and Jet.
This year Jackies girls have been put to Robin and Beckies Boer buck Aaron so they will be 50% nubian and boer. This is so that we can improve the meat on the male kids and all females will be for sale in about 3 months, though we make keep 1 girl if we have one we get attached to so we can see what the cross would milk like.
This is Dencross Aaron, just making sure everyone is behaving in his yard!! haha
All girls will be for sale from roughly 3 months of age so if you are interested then please get in touch. They would be perfect for breeding up with a boer buck to improve quality of kids. Cant say what the girls would milk like as we've never tried it ourselves yet but the nubians are known for their lovely rich creamy milk and the boers we milked last year to feed their kids seemed to have very rich milk again, so hopefully it will prove to be a good partnership.
If you are interested please dont hesitate to get in touch either via our facebook page 'bure valley farm' or give us a call on 01263 732177. We're happy to provide more information on their bloodlines and pedigrees and answer any questions.
