About Me

My photo
Hello from the Brownes. We're a family run farm in rural Aylsham. Our farm is home to Robins Rare Breed Oxford Sandy and Black pigs which we breed for their lovely meat (said to be the best tasting meat out of all rare breed pigs) The Farm is also home to Robin & Beckie's Boer Goats bred for their high quality healthy meat low in cholesterol and high in protien) We're also trying to increase the quanity of our very good quailty stock to help improve bloodlines through the country. Jackies Anglo Nubian goats, kept for both their meat, which is incredibly healthy for you and their milk which we're planning to make cheese, icecream, soap, moisturiser and a probiotic drink with. We also keep a few chickens, some traditonal breeds as well as hybrids and some Muscovy ducks for their free range eggs as well as David having arable land to produce home grown cereals for our animals. We also have 3 holiday cottages alongside the farm. These are run by Jackie and Hayley. All visitors have acess to our private section of the river Bure. We'd like to share the farm experience with visitors to Bure Valley Farm and those following our blog. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

New Season begins for our Holiday Cottages

New year, new season for our Holiday Cottages. We have a complex of 3 holiday cottages, all barn conversions situated at the front of our farm over looking some of our goats on the meadow and a 10 minute walk away from our private section of the river bure and meadows. All conversions were completed in 2006 and we pride ourselves on offering rural Norfolk accommodation at its best whilst only being a 20 minute stroll from the historic market place of Aylsham with it various shops from basic groceries to finest  chocolates, artisan bakery, several cafes and the Black Boys Pub.

Here on the farm being as Eco-friendly as we possible can is incredibly important to us. We have our own 11kw gaia wind turbine which gives the farm a zero carbon footprint and all our heating comes from a Glen Farrow Biomass boiler on which we burn left over straw from the farm and wood found in our woodland and area surrounding the farm.

Interested in what we do here at the farm, why not come and stay with us and see what we do yourselves. Come and sample products from our Love Grub farm shop where we sell our own rare breed pork and goat meat and much more homemade produce, free range eggs and seasonal veg. Maybe have a go at being hands on and help feed some young kids (time of year depending) and get up close and personal with them.

Here's a few photos of our cottages:
