Time just seems to fly by these days, Jackies Anglo Nubian goats, which are the first to kid of the year are due in less than 1 week!!!! Friday 17th is our first due date but not too sure whether she'll hold on to them for that long. All of them are now getting rather rounded and their udders are full to bursting with milk by the looks of them :)
Mopsa, should be the first to kid. Cant see too well from the pic but her hind legs are stradling around her back and she's waddling well :) due on the 17th if she can hold them that long!
Fudge (cream) and Perdy. Again rather barrel like and very incomfortable!
Mopsa with Gypsy and Jet.
This year Jackies girls have been put to Robin and Beckies Boer buck Aaron so they will be 50% nubian and boer. This is so that we can improve the meat on the male kids and all females will be for sale in about 3 months, though we make keep 1 girl if we have one we get attached to so we can see what the cross would milk like.
This is Dencross Aaron, just making sure everyone is behaving in his yard!! haha
All girls will be for sale from roughly 3 months of age so if you are interested then please get in touch. They would be perfect for breeding up with a boer buck to improve quality of kids. Cant say what the girls would milk like as we've never tried it ourselves yet but the nubians are known for their lovely rich creamy milk and the boers we milked last year to feed their kids seemed to have very rich milk again, so hopefully it will prove to be a good partnership.
If you are interested please dont hesitate to get in touch either via our facebook page 'bure valley farm' or give us a call on 01263 732177. We're happy to provide more information on their bloodlines and pedigrees and answer any questions.
About Me
- Bure Valley Farm & Love-Grub Farm Shop
- Hello from the Brownes. We're a family run farm in rural Aylsham. Our farm is home to Robins Rare Breed Oxford Sandy and Black pigs which we breed for their lovely meat (said to be the best tasting meat out of all rare breed pigs) The Farm is also home to Robin & Beckie's Boer Goats bred for their high quality healthy meat low in cholesterol and high in protien) We're also trying to increase the quanity of our very good quailty stock to help improve bloodlines through the country. Jackies Anglo Nubian goats, kept for both their meat, which is incredibly healthy for you and their milk which we're planning to make cheese, icecream, soap, moisturiser and a probiotic drink with. We also keep a few chickens, some traditonal breeds as well as hybrids and some Muscovy ducks for their free range eggs as well as David having arable land to produce home grown cereals for our animals. We also have 3 holiday cottages alongside the farm. These are run by Jackie and Hayley. All visitors have acess to our private section of the river Bure. We'd like to share the farm experience with visitors to Bure Valley Farm and those following our blog. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
